Who I am

Eugenio Giuseppe Nerelli, owner of reflip and of nerln.github.io. To write to me use the Contact page.

The text you paste

It never leaves your device. The facts check runs in the page; detection and rewriting run in a worker inside your browser, with models stored in your browser. While a text is being processed the page locks its own network access: any request it tried would fail. I never receive the text, its length, a hash of it, its language, a score or a verdict, and I could not: the code has nowhere to put them. The code is public at github.com/nerln/reflip, with the tests that check this.

What is counted

Each time a page opens, a model finishes downloading, or a tool is used, the page sends one request with four fields: the version of this format, what happened (page, model_download, facts, detect, rewrite), which page (home, app, privacy) and which model. Each field takes its value from a fixed list, and anything else is refused, by the page and by the counter. The counter, a Cloudflare Worker, adds one to a daily total for that combination and stores nothing else: no IP address, no browser details, no row per visit, no cookie. Cloudflare, which runs it, sees the connection as any host does, under its own privacy policy. The page shows every request it has sent, exactly as sent, under "What this page has sent". If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, nothing is counted.

The ground is my legitimate interest in knowing whether the tool is used, and which parts. The totals cannot be traced back to a person.

Models

When you choose to download a model, your browser fetches it from Hugging Face, which sees your IP address and which files were requested, under its privacy policy. The files are checked against fixed fingerprints and kept in your browser's storage until you delete them with the button on the page or from the browser settings. If you open the list of other models, the page asks Hugging Face for it, and Hugging Face sees that request too.

In your browser

The page remembers the interface language you pick (reflip.ui in localStorage) and keeps downloaded models in the Cache Storage (transformers-cache). Both stay on your device, I do not read them, and they exist only because you asked for them.

Where the site lives

GitHub Pages serves the pages. GitHub receives your IP address and the details of the request, as an independent controller under its privacy statement.

Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability: write to me from the Contact page. You can also contact the supervisory authority of your country; for me it is the Spanish AEPD.
